First : Comparative formula
What is the comparative formula ?
It used when we compare Two things that have the same qualities as comparison . The way of formulating a comparative formula by the numbers of passages of the adjective and we will understand more than illustrative examples.

When converting the multi syllables finished with ( Y ) as ( beautiful ) In the comparative formula we are adding award ( more ) before adjective For example : -Your dress is more expensive than mine . -Ahmed's car is more beautiful than his car . |
When put dual syllables adjective finished with ( Y ) as ( Happy ) in comparative formula we turn ( Y ) in to ( i ) before adding ( er ) . For example : -Salma is prettier than her sister |
When converting the monosyllabic adjective as ( Short – tall ) to comparative formula we add to it ( er ) For example : I'm shorter than Hana.- -Her house is cheaper than mine. -My dad is taller than my mom. But we have to double the last letter in the adjective if the letter preceding it is vowel . For example : -The elephant is bigger than the monkey . |
Whenever it is explained only for regular adjectives but there are irregular adjectives whose shape changes completely when put in the comparative formula .

When we turn the monosyllabic adjective as ( tall – fast ) to the superlative formula, we add ( est ) to the adjective . For example : -Sandy is the fastest in the football team . -I'm the longest in my sisters . It should be noted that if the adjective ends with ( Y ) turn in to ( I ) For example : Easy → easiest |
