(If) conditional in English

There is in English what is called ( conditional sentence ) which consists of Two parts.

The Frist part is ( condition ), and the other part is ( result ) and then we use the conditional tool is ( If ) and in our lesson today we will learn about the conditional sentence in terms of how its configured using ( If ) in various cases with many illustrative examples.

(If) conditional

First – Main elements of the conditional sentence in English:

1-The First and basic element so that we can form the conditional sentence is the (if ).

2-The Second element of a conditional  sentence is the condition which depends on another act .

3-The Third and final element is the event resulting from the first event , which is the result that occurs when the first event occurs .

Methods of drafting a conditional sentence:

There are two ways of drafting the conditional sentence and we will learn about each one with several examples:

1- The First version

If + condition + result

For example:

If I visited my grandfather, I will see my aunt .

2-The Second version

Result + if + condition

For example:

I will call my uncle if my father goes to the hospital .

And we might conclude from that ( if ) can be used either at the beginning of the sentence and then  the condition comes after it,  or in the middle and then the condition comes after it also but the result precedes it . In both cases its meaning doesn't change .

Cases of using ( If )

Zero condition

Zero condition is the one of the most important and most famous cases of (if). It is used to express public facts and constant as well as future events and  it is  the formula is:

If + Present simple + Present simple

For example:

If you drink too much water, your body is healthier .

1- First condition

This condition  is used to express the likelihood of events occurring both in the present and the future as well as sometimes  this formula tends to be threatening and promising and consist of :

If +Present simple + will + infinitive

For example:

If you do this again, I will stop you from going to the club .

2- Second condition

This condition is used to indicate something or event that has already occurred in the past and that can 't be returned again  so we call it remorse and heartbreak .

It should be worded as following:

If + had + past participle + would have + past participle

For example:

If Sara had come down early, she would have attended the meeting .

3 - Third condition

It called a dream condition because it used  to express the dreams and wishes that are dreamed of but it is not going to happen .

Its  version:

If + Past simple + would + infinitive

For example:

If I were tall, I would play the basketball .

We have to mention that in case that ( if ) comes at the beginning of the sentence, then we have to put comma ( , ) after the condition sentence that  is before the result.

And now that we have finished explaining one of the most important English lessons of all time, which is explaining the conditional  sentence in terms of how it formed in  different cases, we can conclude today's lesson
